What a great start to the day!!
I went to feed the beasts and was met with what looked like a World War II trench. The little bastard has struck again!!
Smokey must have thought, “I haven’t dug up plants for a long time.” He continued to dig up all of the flowers in the planter.

It was full of yellow and purple pansies. He destroyed the lot. He also ate more of the trellis.
A friend of mine had a nasty accident on his scooter, he ended up with 7 broken ribs. That’s nothing to what Maria will do to Smokey, not to mention 2 very swollen bollocks .
I cleaned it up, putting the soil back into the planter and washed the driveway.

When Maria got home, Smokey could feel he was living on the edge. He’s not daft he kept out of sight and spent most of the time in the kennel.
During the day we got more pansies. I’ll plant them in the morning and then pull out Smokey’s claws.
We have a busy day today. We are just sorting out everyday mundane things. However, we have to go to Camara de Lobos and Funchal.
Camara de Lobos is the first stop. We had a walk about and a coffee while we were there, it’s a lovely day.
Next we’re off to Funchal. We passed the site for the new Madeira Central and University Hospital on the way, in Santa Rita. It’s enormous. It is being built with anti-seismic technology. The construction is expected to be finished in the second half of 2027.

We arrived in Funchal and parked up, after we finished our bit of business we had a wander.
There was a huge ship in the harbour that turned out to be the Sir David Attenborough. It’s one of the most advanced Polar Research vessel’s in the world.

As we walked around, the art and sculptures really seemed to stand out, maybe because it was so sunny.
The Grouper fish is at the harbour and is made from recycled plastic. The statue of the woman is Empress Elizabeth of Austria. It is located at the Pestana Casino Park Hotel in Funchal .
The statue of Zarco is right in the centre of town next to the Golden Gate Restaurant. There is even a bust of the Englishman Baden Powell, founder of the Boy Scouts.
These ones depict a man and a woman. One is exiting the block as the other enters. There is a golden ball on top. WHY?? your guess is as good as mine.
The other symbolizes the Immigrants of the island who brought their customs and religions from around the world.
I’m not really knowledgeable about art. I either like it or not, certain pieces are a load of bollocks and look like a child made it. Most of it looks like the artist was either a piss artist or on drugs.
One is of a running footballer. Ok I can see that. It’s located near the cable cars in Old Town.
Another is of two oxen pulling a barrel of Vinho. Ok I can see that too.
The last one is very strange. It has a head on the lower part of a woman’s body. It depicts fuck knows what. (artist definitely on drugs)
Any suggestions are welcome. I’ll buy a beer for the best one.
These are just a few. There are lots and lots and lots of others, all over town.

A 17th Century fort, building started in 1614 to protect against various corsairs and pirates. It has been used for many things over the years, now it’s a lovely restaurant.
We got back a little late to plant the new pansies, so we left them for the next day. LUCKILY!!!!
Yes you guessed it, the little fucker did it again!!!! The broken ribs and swollen bollocks obviously didn’t faze him.

He must have a death wish.
