Today we went to Old Town Funchal.
Funchal is a lovely town, as town’s go. There is Art and Sculptures everywhere. Even the pavements and walkways are beautiful. How they make the designs with the little black and white stones is an art.
There are gardens all over town, with plants and trees from all over the world.
There is even an amphitheatre, where there is concerts and shows free for everyone.

The Old Town is a must visit place. Its near the Cable cars that take you to Monte.
There are lots of bars and restaurants. Old town is the home of a fantastic family-run Fado music venue. Sabor a Fado. They serve great food while singing Fado.
It is definitely a brilliant night out.

Old Town is known for the street art. Especially the painted door’s.
There are lots of restaurants that serve food outside in the little cobbled lane. One of them is called Mozarts. They play violin music while you dine.
We had friends over from UK. They were enjoying Mozart’s one night and the violinist was stood right next to Cathy.
As he bent down to speak to her, she raised her hand. She put her long finger nail right into his eye hahahaha.
He let out a blood curdling scream.
I must be weird because I find things like that funny as fuck. I nearly pissed myself laughing.
Days and months afterwards Cathy still felt the sensation of poking his eye.
She has never seen him since. I think he runs the other way when he sees her hahahaha.
Another must visit place is the central market (Mercada dos Lavradores) and fish market. They are both quite impressive.

The market is known for being a little expensive for tourists so beware, look but don’t buy. Lots of tourists have been ripped off, by excessive prices.
The fish market is attached to the fruit market and is a great place to visit, the earlier the better.
They sell everything from octopus and squid to the many different types of local fish. They include the black scabbard fish (Espada) and the huge blue fin tuna.

Black Scabbard fish. Not nice looking but tastes lovely.
We bought some little Chicharros they are a favourite of ours. A little boney but delicious.

We don’t leave much, as you can see.
In the afternoon I made a plant pot out of an old wine presentation box.
I like to use recycle things, instead of throwing them away.

I’m now waiting for Maria to put plants in. I did think about doing it myself. However, I’d only put in the wrong type of plant and fuck it up.

I think it looks quite good.

These Hydrangea (i think) are enormous, they have also changed colour over the last month or so. Beautiful.
Our Passion Fruit (Maracuja) has taken off too. They start with a nice flower and that then turns into the fruit.

There is quite a lot of fruit. I’ll be making cheesecakes and poncha in no time.

I’m getting the hang of this gardening.
I don’t know what all the fuss is about, it’s easy.
